Re: Naming devices is fun
I was reading some posts posted on the Discord of the Blaugust Challenge. That's when I stumbled upon Juhis' post about Naming devices. I really like the idea of giving specific names to devices.
Until now I've never named a device and always kept the default name. My laptop's name was just the model I am using. Which is not a really cool name in my opinion. That's why I've been thinking about a new name for it.
My laptop is literally my first ever computer. It was the computer that my high school gave me. I don't think I would had any chances to get a computer then. That computer gave me the possibility to have access to a whole new world! I would have never had the chance to discover python and programming in general.
That's why I decided to name my computer "Pyschetron". Which is the name of a machine in one of my favorite game, Crash Twinsanity. In the game it's the machine that let you move between dimensions. A machine that literally change the world you are in. That's why I gave it this name. Plus it's a tribut to one of my favorite game so it's perfect!
Now I will think about names for all of my other devices. Maybe I should think about a naming convention? Well I'll think about it and I'll come up with names.
For example for my e-reader I could use names of muses in the Greek mythology. For my phone maybe the name of a messenger god? Like Hermes or Mercury? Then adding a number to differentiate between devices? Like for exemple "Mercury-III" for my current phone? I have to think about all of that.
Well naming devices is indeed really fun to do.
